Snacks can be an important part of your everyday diet depending on your needs.
Children have smaller stomachs and need regular snacks to help maintain their energy levels.
Athletes can need snacks to help meet their overall energy needs. Snacks can also play an important role in maximising energy stores before or after training sessions.
When you are trying to gain weight snacks are encouraged!
For many other people snacks may not be essential, but at times we all like to have a snack between our meals. While fruit might be an ideal choice sometimes it is just not what you may feel like.
A good snack is one that offers some nutrition and is satisfying at the same time - for instance a fruit based baked product which includes some wholemeal flour will have a higher nutrient value than just a plain sweet biscuit. It will also satisfy your appetite for longer.
